THE ANUBIS WORLD PARTY Anubis World Party Saturday November 8 Inside the Grand Midway Hotel ______________________________________________________ Rosemary Ellen Guily, our first official guest, just posted she will be on the radio on Coast-to-Coast between now and our secret Anubis event. Try to imagine she'll be speaking to a listening audience of millions. She writes: APPEARANCES ON COAST TO COAST -Tuesday Sept. 23, 8 PM PST, 11 PM EST: I'm pleased to return once again on the Coast to Coast AM Streamlink Live Chat with moderator Lex Lonehood. The Streamlink Live Chat is available to C2C subscribers. Well worth it, considering you can access the downloads of the shows, too! Tomorrow night I'm touching on my research into Shadow People, portals, sexy ghosts, faeries and demons -- plus it's wide open for questions on any topic. -Thursday October 30, 11 PM PST, 2 AM EST: I will be George Noory's main guest on Coast to Coast AM for our usual Halloween fare of spooky topics, and my new edition of "The Encyclopedia of Witches, Witchcraft & Wicca." _________________________________________________________ Howard Carter was asked, "What do you see?!" Looking in the tomb, Carter whispered, "Wonderful things.." Within a night we'll celebrate the November anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankamun's tomb. Read the National Georgraphic article here... http://www.nationalgeographic.com/egypt/ Go here to check out a fun virtual tour entering the tomb... http://www.kingtutone.com/tutankhamun/enter/ From Wikipedia: As a side effect, the interest in this tomb and its alleged "curse" led to horror movies featuring a vengeful mummy. As Jon Manchip White writes, in his forward to the 1977 edition of Carter's The Discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun, "The pharaoh who in life was one of the least esteemed of Egypt's kings has become in death the most renowned." ______________________________________________________ Renee Angle writes: Evening turns slowly into night. The kitchen is warm, the coffee is flowing, and I sit at the table holding my little miracle in my arms and watching forty Anubis heads come to life before my eyes. Blair is hard at work creating papier-mache masks of the loyal gatekeeper god. It's all part of a secret plan to be revealed Saturday night at the highly-anticipated Anubis World Party. Blair is totally focused on his work, meticulously shaping ears and snouts out of index cards, pasting strips of muslin, sweeping his paintbrush and detailing the creepy eyeless faces. The kitchen is filled with the mealy scent of flour-paste. The masks bake in the oven, two at a time, the promise of a great artistic compilation for all the revelers. It's another night at the Grand Midway... -Renee ______________________________________________________ (Brian Burke and the mysterious Dr. Skot Jones manning the bar as the evening begins...) (Tim Cargo performs on stage the entire night) (A t-shirt gift from Rosemary Ellen Guiley for the party, perfect!) (Camilo Correal made a delicious chicken bisket dinner for the entire house. Old hat Joey complimented our feast with fabulous chedder broccoli soup. Assorted wines poured out from various guests. Other splendid gifts to arrive with the opening hours of the World Anubis Party included an original painting by Chris Yambar of Bela Lugosi as Chandu, a bullet proof vest from P.R. Mathias worn in the Gulf War by him complete with bullets stuck in it, beautiful baby clothes and enchanting porceline figurine from Brian and Stefanie Burke, more cool baby boy clothes from Tom Leslie, a beautiful, regal black and gold full-body cape from typewritergirls Crystal and Margaret, and a giant puzzle from Courtney Hall of Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are!) (Kevin Bean as the unnerving clown) ______________________________________________________ (Hotel mommy Renee commands the kitchen) (Godfather Jaemi) (A scholastic crowd in the Living Room, with cozy new heat, engaged for hours in deep important discussions on the paranormal...) (The introduction of Blair Thomas Anubis Murphy, the hotel's newest distinguished member) (Sister Meg Bashaw with painting by Dylan Fornoff of her in the background) (Scott Penrod of the Windber Hotel) (Old Midway Hats Steff, Joey and Jim passing out hugs in the front doorway. Note: they don't look like this all the time) (George Sporay just looking too hideous) (Famous Monsters of Filmland editor and American collector of Science Fiction and Horror memorabalia Forrest Ackerman died this week. Mr. Ackerman greatly expanded the world of fandom. I know he changed and enriched my life. One of my highlights of life in Hollywood was meeting him and going to his home, the Ackerman Mansion. It was full of all these great items from earlier movies. I almost cried. Anyway, for all his great creepy enthusiasm and efforts, I raised a glass of red wine at the Anubis Party in honor and in tribute to his magnificent cinematic life. Funny, and oddly, I somehow had been wildly mistaken, and learned after the fact that he had indeed not died. So, Mr. Ackerman is still with us!) (Silent Cinema Bill in character all night as Bela Lugosi with hypno-goggles) (the late night bar, always 4 AM here...) |
