THE MIDWAY HATS I always wanted a baseball team, I guess because my father sponsored one when I was little, so we got one... our official hotel little league team. The name? I used to call Stef and Joey and Sarah "old hats" since they'd been the woman around the hotel longest. So when Stef approached me lat the beginning of a season with the offer of sponsorship for a local little league baseball team, I jumped at it immediately. I saw them as "little old midway hotel hats". If they win the season I'll treat them to a massive little kid, pizza, sleep-over party in a genuine haunted hotel. I also requested for our team the black shirts and black baseball caps, of course. The season starts this Spring. We'll be updating this site with the team's photos, game schedule, and progress. (Stef Conrad, our team's hotel rep) ________________________________________________ Stef just updated us with the team scheduale! 5/6 Midway Hats vs. New Germany 1 5/9 Midway Hats vs. St. Michael Legion 5/10 Midway Hats vs. Dimond Funeral Home 5/12 Midway Hats vs. Beaverdale American Legion (This is also team picture day!) 5/15 Midway Hats vs. Summerhill 2 5/17 Midway Hats vs. New Germany 2 5/19 Midway Hats vs. Homestead Inn 5/27 Midway Hats vs. New Germany 2 5/28 Midway Hats vs. Dimond Funeral Home 5/31 Midway Hats vs. New Germany 1 6/2 Midway Hats vs. Summerhill 2 6/4 Midway Hats vs. Summerhill 1 6/6 Midway Hats vs. Beaverdale American Legion 6/10 Midway Hats vs. St. Michael Legion 6/11 Midway Hats vs. Summerhill 1 6/14 Midway Hats vs. Homestead Inn (Last game. Instead of pizzas, Stef requested cake and ice cream.) _____________________ _______________________ Stef writes: The Midway Hats baseball team's season officially ended last Saturday. Thanks to Blair's donation we were able to purchase new team uniforms, trophies for all the kids, and participate in the upcoming League picnic. Blair will receive in return for his help a coach's shirt and hat and framed team picture. Baseball was fun this year. Our team did pretty well considering all the games we had to play in the rain and that we only had 8 kids on the team to share the work of the required 9. Blair even got to come and see our last game while I worked the dreaded concession stand selling fries and sodas for a buck-fifty. Some of our older kids from the other teams made it into the Allstars so baseball season will still continue well into August, but as for the Midway Hats, they get to relax for the rest of summer break and cheer on the older kids in Allstars. The team will wear their uniforms to the remaining Allstars games as an intimidation strategy to psych out the opponents. Just picture it, a whole gang of Midway Hats screaming from the bleachers at the other team "WE NEED A PITCHER, NOT A BELLY ITCHER " and "FULL COUNT, STRIKE HIM OUT " and don't forget the famous quote of all little leaguers " THROW THE CURL , HE HITS LIKE GIRL" . Well, all little boys at that age take it very personal if you tell them they hit like girls. Well Blair , again thanks for all your help, Brendon, AJ, Anthony, Andrew, Dominic, Boston, Easton, Cameron, Coach Mandy, Coach Jason, and me, the original Midway Hat |
